PBI approached us to migrate the websites of their international network of Human Right Defenders almost 10 years ago, they adopted Drupal for their International Secretariat and most of their entities' websites on a GreenNet virtual server. We've built up a strong relationship as technical collaborators working with a range of FLOSS open source systems to support PBI's work.
In 2024 we relaunched PBI's online home with a Drupal upgrade that makes use of Multisite features to host sub-sites for PBI Country Groups and Field Projects within a single Drupal CMS, sharing architecture and visual design while enabling each PBI group to use their own domain name, and display location-specific information such as news, events and donations pages. The new website displays a responsive visual design created by Karen Beal, installed as a custom Drupal theme.
The site offers multilingual and translation tools so website visitors and editors can view sub-sites in multiple languages, depending on the location of the PBI entity and users' preferences. In the CMS back end we implemented clever content sharing and translation features that allow website editors in different locations to translate and syndicate content across their global network.
