Setting up your GreenNet email account in Mac Mail is easy if you have the right information. You will need to look through the details we sent you for your username and password, but the rest of the information is provided below. Once you have it, you are ready to set up Mac Mail.

  • Incoming mail server: pop.gn.apc.org
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.gn.apc.org
  • Your GreenNet username:
  • Your domain email address: @
  1. Open Mail
  2. Click the Mail menu, and then click Preferences
  3. Click the Accounts tab
  4. Click the + button (at the bottom-left of the window)
  5. Enter your name, email address, and password, and unselect Automatically set up account if it is ticked. (Your password will be saved in your Mac OS keychain; if you don't want your password to be saved then do not enter it here and you will be asked for it each time you check for new mail.)  Click Continue
  6. Select the following incoming mail settings:
    • Account type: POP
    • Incoming mail server: pop.gn.apc.org
    • User Name: The username that we have sent to you (if you use a @gn.apc.org email address, this will usually be the part of your email address before the @ sign.)
    • Password: The password for your email account that we have sent to you
  7. If prompted for Incoming Mail Security settings, select:
    • Authentication method: Password
    • Incoming mail server supports Secure Sockets Layer: Yes
  8. Click Continue
  9. Set the following outgoing mail settings:
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.gn.apc.org
    • Use Authentication: Yes
    • User Name: The username that we have sent to you (if you use a @gn.apc.org email address, this will usually be the part of your email address before the @ sign.)
    • Password: The password for your email account that we have sent to you
  10. If prompted for Outgoing Mail Security settings, select:
    • Authentication method: Password
    • Outgoing mail server supports Secure Sockets Layer: Yes
  11. Click Continue, select Take account online, and click Create
